Spring Edit: Blogger PicksMarch 07, 2017
Beautiful blooms, sunny weather and vibrant, effortless fashion—spring is just around the corner! To celebrate the arrival of the new season and our 25th anniversary, Calgary-based plus size blogger Inemesit Etokudo shares her top five spring picks from Toni Plus.
1. The Button Front Dress.
No spring trend is more iconic than the floral print. With notes of femininity, florals bring a fresh breath of colour after a winter season filled with neutral greys and tans. I love the oversized floral motif present in this Ronen Chen button front dress, making it a great statement piece in your spring closet. I’d style this with a red stiletto heel, to play on the vibrant colour in the print, and a skinny waist belt, to help create some definition in the dress for the perfect workplace look.

2. The Striped Duster.
Stripes of all shapes, sizes and colours are sticking around this spring and I couldn’t be any happier! Statement stripes are my favourite type of print to incorporate into my wardrobe seasonally. This Lafayette 148 New York striped duster is the ultimate transitional piece because it is lightweight enough to wear during the day, while also providing a bit more warmth for the season’s cooler evenings. I’d dress this duster down by pairing it with my favourite distressed denim capris, a simple cream camisole and gold loafers to tie the look together.

3. The Print Dress.
A great way to experiment with spring prints is by finding a pattern in a pastel palette. If your style tends to shy away from these candy hues, the pastel trend is still achievable through abstract prints that take these tones from sweet to edgy. Alternatively, I’d play up the pastel tones in this Rachel Roy print dress by adding a mint cardigan and pale yellow sandals to create a fresh and vibrant look. If I was feeling edgy, I’d pair this dress with a salmon-coloured moto jacket and a pair of chunky, cut-out booties would be my choice instead!
Rachel Roy Draped Jersey Pastel Print Dress, $169, available in stores now.
4. The Maxi Dress.
The cold shoulder was all the rage this past season and spring is an opportunity to jump on this ever-expanding trend. It’s all about showing a little bit of skin, while creating an understated air of sexiness that is universally flattering. This toni T. chiffon cold shoulder dress takes the less-is-more approach, proving that black can be worn throughout every season! I would keep the styling of this dress simple, pairing it with minimal, heeled sandals and a pair of statement earrings in order to play up the pure elegance of this dress!

5. The Off-Shoulder Top.
Spring is the perfect time to play with bold, vibrant colours! I love being able to pull out my favourite yellow coat or orange button-up from the back of my closet after months of bundling up in the cold Calgary winters. Rachel Roy understands the need for vibrant colours and delivers with this orchid off-shoulder top. I would tuck this top into a floral skater skirt to further play up spring’s vibrancy and pair that with a pair of tasseled, knee-high gladiators for a chic, everyday look!
